  • Overview

New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers—literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission—your opportunity—is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.

Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.

Are you ready to protect our space missions from cyber attackers? Join our team as a Senior Cyber Systems Engineer Level 3 and be a key member of our groundbreaking Cyber Defense Engineering and Research team. You will be reporting to the Group Supervisor of our high performing team. We are looking to expand our diverse team and have multiple openings to work on strategic cyber defense projects.

Our group leads the laboratory’s efforts in mission cyber defense. We provide mentorship and direction of cyber defense strategies for flight programs and projects; developing new cyber defense test and validation methodologies. We advance the state-of-the-art in intrusion detection, diagnosis, and remediation for cyber and cyber-physical systems. We engage in collaborations with the cyber systems security research community which includes other government agencies, academia and industry. We implement reimbursable tasks with DOE, DoD, intelligence community, and commercial customers designed to improve space systems cyber security defenses.

You will use your skills to find solutions for the universe's most complex problems, with a mission to keep space missions and related critical infrastructure safe from cyber-based adversaries. If these challenges sound exciting, the Jet Propulsion Lab could be where you build your legacy.
